Fast food doesn’t have to be unhealthy, and everybody loves it. Icelanders love fast food a lot, and there are quite a few places to choose from. We made a list with a few of them.
Local

Let’s begin with the healthy stuff. Local is a great salad place where you can either make your own or choose from many different types of salads off the menu. The salads are always fresh because they are made for you while you wait. There are a couple of other healthy fast food places you can check out; Fresco, Lemon, and Gló.
Block burger

Some might think that burgers are burgers? But, Nah, that’s not true. Icelanders love their burgers, and there are many different burger joints to choose from plus 99% of restaurants offer a burger on their menu. There are a few good ones to choose from like Hamborgarabúlla Tómasar, Dirty Burgers & Ribs, LeCock, and Metro (for those who like their McDonalds burgers) but we chose Block Burger for this list. Why? Their burgers are juicy and the perfect size. Also, their fries are to die for. We would like to know what they do with them!
Fuego Taqueria
For those who want Mexican food, there isn’t a lot to choose from, but Fuego Taqueria in Hlemmur Mathöll makes the best soft-shell tacos available in Iceland. That’s the truth! Although more Tex-Mex than authentic Mexican, they are a joy to eat. It is possible to choose from a few different types of tacos, but we highly recommend the fish tacos and pulled pork tacos!
Bonus - Blackbox Pizza
Just as with the hamburgers, Icelanders love their pizza. Apart from global chains such as Pizza Hut, Wilson’s and Dominos, there are multiple of other stand-alone or Icelandic pizza chains. Eldsmiðjan, Íslenska flatbakan, Flatey, Eldsmiðjan and Shake & Pizza are just a few of the many pizza places in Iceland.
However, we are going to talk about Blackbox pizza. Newly opened and immediately became a very popular pizza place. All their pizzas are made with sourdough and you can either choose your topping yourself (like in Local) or choose a pizza from the menu, but you can also alter that one as you like. And then it is baked for 2 minutes in a very fancy brick oven!
